Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICEROffice of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to implement communications projects that support VPF’s goals and objectives.  Will advance the team’s digital technology tools across all platforms and use project tracking software; create, edit, and produce high-caliber print and electronic communications materials and presentations; write, edit, and proofread content and create graphics/designs for use across the full spectrum of VPF communications projects; support development and production of PowerPoint presentations, reports, newsletters, and other communications materials; maintain and update the VPF website; join project teams to develop communications strategies (editorial and design) for the rollout of significant financial process and policy changes or service changes to the MIT community.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in a related field; five years’ journalism, communications, and/or public relations experience; excellent writing, editing, proofreading, PowerPoint, and graphic design skills; advanced-level knowledge of design and layout software; proficiency with databases and web content management systems, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Zoom; ability to explore, learn, and introduce new platforms to team(s); adaptability, flexibility, and ability to reprioritize workload as necessary; strong interpersonal skills;  familiarity with/ability to learn financial concepts underlying Institute financial practices and to develop related communications materials for project-specific deliverables; and discretion, tact, and diplomacy with sensitive confidential material.  Must be able to write in different voices and for different audiences; translate complex concepts into precise, intuitive communications; remain well-organized and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines; and build effective relationships with key constituents.  PREFERRED: master’s degree; knowledge of HTML, Drupal, QuickBase and Google Analytics; familiarity with broad-based financial concepts; and MIT experience.

Salary range: $80,000 - 100,000
