CEOC is Cambridge's designated anti-poverty community action agency.  CEOC's mission is to eliminate poverty's causes and impacts.  CEOC has maintained an aggressive struggle against poverty for over 50 years.  CEOC has a rich history of implementing successful public policy organizing and advocacy efforts for affordable housing, health care and hunger relief.  
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct intakes and assessments for participants with hoarding issues and determine intervention and housing stabilization plan
  • Conduct ongoing home visits focused on hands-on sorting/discarding, reducing clutter and/or addressing severe squalor and sanitation concerns in the home
  • Provide regular follow-up home visits to support continued success
  • Obtain resources and services as requested and/or needed to address participants’ needs, including but not limited to: housing applications, negotiation and mediation with property owners and utility companies, fuel assistance, and shelter information
  • Complete and maintain participant files by reviewing paperwork; collecting documentation from participants, property owners, and advocates
  • Track all interactions with participants and/or their files by entering outcomes into database
  • Work with partner organizations and internal CEOC staff, and keep those parties updated regarding work with their participants
  • Other duties that are relevant to the work of the Department, the agency, and the community
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two years of experience working with in hoarding or professional organizing preferred, or a strong interest in this field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong personal time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Ability to work with people of varied and diverse backgrounds including language, race, class, culture, education and disability
  • Sensitivity to the needs of individuals who are unhoused and those with mental health challenges
  • Willingness to work with clients in homes where hoarding is occurring
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to promote the goals of the program and agency
  • Must be computer proficient, preferably in Microsoft office products

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is classified as moderate work. Light moderate involves lifting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for light work. 

Compensation: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
