COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATEOffice of the Executive Vice President and Treasurer-Open Space Programming, to perform complex and diverse communications and marketing duties for the Open Space Programming team.  Responsibilities include managing social media channels, creating print materials and signage, editing the website, creating weekly email newsletters, updating calendars to promote Open Space Programming’s events, and performing other duties as requested. Will also work in close collaboration with the programming team to plan and staff public events in person in the Kendall/MIT Open Space.  

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years of communications experience; experience with social media and electronic communication methods and tools, Microsoft Office, Squarespace or similar website platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite; excellent written communication skills, including demonstrated mastery of grammar and punctuation; detail-orientation; comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines; openness to feedback and brainstorming; flexibility when there is a need to change plans or strategy; ability to collaborate as part of a team; ability to lift weights up to 25 lbs and to stand for long periods of time; and support for MIT’s commitment to inclusive practices and meaningful community engagement. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in communications or related field; experience working with the public; experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations; and experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.  Job #22156-6

Hourly rate range: $25.59 - 33.27

This is a mostly on-site role with some opportunities to work remotely. The work schedule may shift, so flexibility is required. Some night and weekend work will also be required.
