FINANCIAL ASSISTANT IISchwarzman College of Computing-Laboratory for Information and Decision  Systems (LIDS) (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to perform complex and diverse financial duties. Will provide financial support to two financial coordinators and to the director for administration and finance; perform financial review and control (FRC) for accounts, monitor activity in accounts (cost objects), and perform account maintenance; review and approve procurement credit card purchases, travel expense reports, reimbursement requests, requisitions, requests for payment (RFPs), and invoices; verify procurement credit card charges; review monthly transactions to ensure that expenses and revenue are accurate, timely, complete, and properly documented; respond to and resolve complex inquiries; contribute to the routine review and updating of the lab’s financial process documentation; assist with preparing a variety of financial/budget spreadsheets and projections, proposal documentation, and forms related to research administration; assist with reviewing, processing, and tracking financial transactions, purchasing approvals, and compliance tracking; perform account audit checks; create and process financial transactions; support the design, development, and delivery of LIDS’ financial compliance training program; interact with multiple MIT central offices; and work on other projects/duties as assigned.  

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years' experience in accounting or finance, at least one of which is directly related; fluency with Excel; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills; ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow through on tasks; attention to detail; strong accounting skills; sound judgment with confidential information; and ability to work independently and as part of a team.  PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; knowledge of SAPgui; experience in university accounting (research administration); and experience with MIT applications (e.g., Concur, Atlas, etc.).  Job #23433-5

Salary range:  $25.00 - 28.00/hour

Schedule to be determined.

This position will initially be onsite for onboarding, training, and performance evaluation with the possibility for a hybrid or remote work arrangement.

Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check.
