About the Role

As our Machine Operator, you are responsible for setting up and operating
common machine shop equipment and machine tools such as computerized
vertical milling machines, Swiss screw machines, lathes, grinders or drill presses.
You will machine metallic and nonmetallic work-pieces and produce production
parts to required tolerances.


Responsibilities include:

 

  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Positions and secures work-pieces in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Moves controls to position tool and work-pieces in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work-pieces to specifications. Responsible for routine machine maintenance and maintaining work area in a neat condition.
  • Maintains simple reports on work-pieces handled and quantities produced.
  • Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma plus technical school training.
  • One year or more related work experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, decimals
  • Preference will be given to candidates with one year certificate from college or technical school.
