that supports low- and moderate-income Somerville residents in their efforts to achieve economic

sustainability and increase civic participation. We are a small team with a big heart for helping

Job Summary:

This Digital Literacy Coordinator position will be responsible for coordinating the NorthStar Digital

Literacy program. This position will focus attention on increasing the digital skills of adults in the

City of Somerville and surrounding communities.

 

A Day in the Life of the Digital Literacy Coordinator:

  • Oversee the computer lab, computer equipment, and scheduling of the space if used for other activities.
  • Schedule and provide offsite digital literacy training at various locations in the City of Somerville and other locations as needed.
  • The ability to work evenings as needed to provide access to the Computer Lab to members of the community.
  • Create partnerships with organizations that align with the offerings of our Digital Literacy and Computer Lab services.
  • Data tracking and reporting in Salesforce as needed at the direction of the Director of Economic Opportunity.
  • Work remotely in different areas of Somerville to allow greater access of our computer & digital literacy services to the community we serve.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities):

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or six to six nine related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced Leadership in program design and execution.Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) – Digital Literacy Coordinator
  • Computer literate in social media, Microsoft Office suite (intermediate/advanced), and standard database systems (Salesforce is a plus).
  • Bilingual with the ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Portuguese is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exercises appropriate judgment and makes decisions based on accurate and timely information.
  • Task-oriented with strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Previous experiences as a teacher/trainer strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the cycle of poverty in the US as it relates to employment barriers that many community members face.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people of diverse social, economic, and professional backgrounds.
  • Curious and explorative: open to new models of workforce development, including finding synergies with other programs.
  • A proactive self-starter who is mission-driven and can juggle multiple tasks and projects independently.

 

Location: This position will be onsite and requires travel to various locations.

Classification/Status: Exempt Full time

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am 4:30 pm or 9:00am -5:00pm, also requires regular evening hours.

Salary Range: $50,000 or Negotiable based on experience & and qualifications.
